About

Oracle and PostgreSQL engineering without layers of hand-off.

I combine long-term Oracle work with PostgreSQL/Aurora, AWS migration, Flyway and hands-on database development. My focus is the code and dependencies that actually have to change when the database engine changes.

Migration from the perspective of code, database and operations.

My work includes Oracle lift-and-shift into AWS, building PostgreSQL/Aurora environments on AWS, Flyway-based database deployment and defining technical API interfaces.

In an Oracle → PostgreSQL migration I am less interested in whether a data type can be converted than in where the business logic lives, how processes are coupled through database links or Scheduler, which features are Oracle-specific, and how deployment, testing and operations work after the change.

As a specialised solo consultant, I can carry analysis, proof of concept and database migration without handing the technical context through several consulting layers. Findings from the source system remain directly connected to target decisions and implementation.

If the programme needs additional specialists or a larger delivery team, this work can integrate into an existing project. My focus remains the database, PL/SQL and migration layer.

Engineering principles

Concrete evidence instead of blanket migration scores.

01

Read the code before estimating

Packages, triggers, dynamic SQL and dependencies say more about change effort than object counts.

02

Use a representative PoC

A pilot should test the difficult parts: code, data access, deployment, performance and failure behaviour.

03

Choose the target from the requirements

PostgreSQL, Aurora or an Oracle intermediate step should be judged by application, operations and migration risk—not by a predetermined product target.

Briefly discuss the Oracle system and target.

The key facts are enough to start. You do not need a completed migration plan or database credentials.
